Akota Grocery & Halal Meat opened on 73rd Street in 1996. For twenty-nine years, the same family has stood behind the counter, cutting to order, weighing spices by hand, and learning the names of the people they feed.

What began as a neighborhood grocery slowly became something more — a quiet wholesale operation supplying fresh halal meat to restaurants from Astoria to Jersey City. Chefs trust us because we cut the same way we did on day one: clean, honest, consistent.

We still take walk-ins. We still take EBT. And we still hand-wrap every chop in butcher paper, the way our father taught us.
